ANNUAL TRADITION: Boothbay Region Peace and Justice group sponsored its annual Veterans Day observance on the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library lawn, Nov. 11. Candle-lit luminaries glowed for each of the 42 Maine casualties in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars as the 42 names were read aloud. A bell tolled after each name. Prayers, readings and personal reminiscences also honored those still serving as well as veterans and casualties of previous wars. The event closed with participants singing the Navy Hymn with added verses for the other services.
